Predictions: The Golden Globes

On Monday, January 16, the Golden Globes will be handed out. Now, unfortunately, TDI will not be able to live-blog the event, but we will offer coverage of the major winners. AND, to spice things up, I'll put my own guessing skills on the line; I'll predict the winners. Hey, I predicted the winners of the Emmy's, and I got 1/3rd correct. Best Motion Picture - Drama: Brokeback Mountain

Best Performance By An Actress In a Motion Picture - Drama: Ziyi Zhang (Memoirs of a Geisha)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Motion Picture - Drama: Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote)

Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy: Mrs. Henderson Presents

Best Performance By An Actress In a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy: Laura Linney (The Squid and the Whale) (Sorry, Dame Judi Dench, not this year!)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy:

Best Director - Motion Picture: Peter Jackson (King Kong)

Best Screenplay - Motion Picture: George Clooney & Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck)

Best Original Score - Motion Picture: John Williams (Memoirs of a Geisha)

Best Original Song - Motion Picture: "Wunderkind" (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe)

Best Television Series - Drama: Lost (ABC)

Best Performance By An Actress In a Television Series - Drama: Geena Davis (Commander In Chief) (even though Patricia Arquette stands a good chance, Geena Davis will win the globe in a stunning upset)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Television Series - Drama: Matthew Fox (Lost) (Keifer Sutherland will never win for 24 until it's the show's last season. It's always nominated, but pretty much never wins the big categories. Expect it to remain true this time around as well.)

Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy: My Name Is Earl (NBC)

Best Performance By An Actress In a Television Series - Musical or Comedy: Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Television Series - Musical or Comedy: Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl)

Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: Empire Falls (HBO)

Best Performance By An Actress In a Mini-Series Or a Motion Picture Made for Television: S. Epatha Merkerson (Lackawanna Blues)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Mini-Series Or a Motion Picture Made for Television: Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Elvis)

Best Performance By An Actress In a Supporting Role In a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy)

Best Performance By An Actor In a Supporting Role In a Series, Mini-Series Or Motion Picture Made for Television: Jeremy Piven (Entourage) (Even though Donald Sutherland, from Commander in Chief, deserves to win!)
