The Emmy Winners
File Under: Emmy's
Time to see if I was right in my predictions... Check back frequently throughout Sunday night, as I am updating the categories LIVE Sunday night. David Letterman did the Johnny Carson tribute package. I like having celebrities singing different vintage TV themes for "Emmy Idol." It's a neat idea, and kinda fun! (and yes, I voted... for the rendition of "Moving On Up", from The Jeffersons) Donald Trump and Megan Mullally won for singing the Green Acres theme song.Alan Alda helped introduce a peice honoring the reporting careers of Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, and the late Peter Jennings. After the peice, Brokaw and Rather came out on stage, to thundering applause. They talked about how they hoped Peter Jennings could be there, so they could have a reunion on stage, of the news anchors who were on-air for the past 20+ years. They talked about his legacy.

Number of Right Predictions: 6
Number of Wrong Predictions: 12
There are a few suprises this year. Patricia Arquette winning the lead actress award was unexpected, as Glenn Close and Mariska Hargitay were leading favorites. Even Frances Conroy and Jennifer Garner were above Arquette in the predictions. This is a bit of an upset.
Boston Legal was a big winner, with both leading men winning the awards in their categories. Last year, Arrested Development was a big winner, winning Best Comedy. It did not get that honor this year. As the writers jabbed when they were on stage for a writing award, "none of you are actually watching this program!". It can be crude at times, but being optimistic, the good faaaar outways the bad. It deserves more ratings!
And the other big suprise this year? TDI was waaaaay wrong. We made predictions for 18 categories, and we had more losses than wins. Oh well, it was fun regardless. Next award show, I'll have to give some more warning, so others can submit their predictions!
In the end, I got 6 right, and 12 wrong. I got the big 2 correct (best drama, comedy), so really, I'm pretty happy. Desperate Housewives makes a clean sweep, MY FOOT! Didn't I tell you they'd honor Everybody Loves Raymond this year? Ah, the gratification I'm feeling right now, as I ignore those big, red "12" characters.
TDI's favorite TV show, Lost, won 6 of it's 12 nominations, including Best Drama. Congratulations!
That does it for the live updates. Thanks for reading TDI's special Emmy coverage. Regular blogging to resume on Monday. Until then, thanks for clicking on!

The Lost Prince won? That was an awesome miniseries! Seriously! That poor little boy, hidden away because of his seizures and slight mental retardation. Only visited by his parents when they could be bothered. So sad.
Also, it did a good job exploring the dynamics of the various monarchies at the time of the Great War. Seeing as they were all cousins (Victoria made sure her kids and grandkids married into all the royal lines of Europe) and all at war with each other. Interesting stuff.
BTW - good job predicting, Chuckles. Woot!
