Breaking Wilma News
File Under: Breaking News
As of this blog posting, the behemoth Hurricane Wilma has weakened to a Category 4, with sustained winds of 155 mph. Of course, by daybreak, it will all be different, rendering this post obsolete. Ah, the dangers of running a news (suppliment) blog.Wilma has now tied the 2005 season for the most recorded storms on record in a Hurricane season, and for the most amount of major storms in one season. And folks? Hurricane season isn't over yet.
Wilma is the last name on the National Hurricane Center's annual list. If a depression strengthens to a storm, then the NHC will go into the Greek alphabet. So we'll have Hurricane Alpha (or, "Hurricane a"), Hurricane Beta, Gamma, ecetera.
Wilma is expected to continue to weaken as the days go on, and by the time it hits American soil, it will be around a Category 2. But that is still very powerful. And TDI will keep an eye on this record-breaking storm, to see what develops.
Since I won't be able to provide blog updates on Thursday, here's a link to the National Hurricane Center's storm tracker.
(and yes, potentially, we could have a Hurricane Omikron, Sigma, and Phi. Just hope we don't actually get to Omega!)

Let's see this hurricane actually do something before we get all in a tizzy over it. You'd think the media had never seen a hurricane before the way they're yacking about this one.
On a side note, which reporter would you like to see assigned to cover Wilma? I want to see Kattie Couric stand out in the wind.
