File Under: Random Thought
Regular TDI readers know that I hope to get a job in photojournalism. If not, I'm going to demand someone pay me to do TDI all day long. Either one will work. But if I'm going into photojournalism, and I'm going to school for it... Why am I required to give MY OPINION? I know english and American government aren't journalism classes, but I have to take them as part of the degree program!
Shoot, I rarely do flat-out editorials here at TDI. I do snide remarks galore, but I hardly spend an hour or more typing up an opinion peice. And now I have to do journals, and other activities, in which I have to take a side. *sigh* Why can't I be fair and balanced in school?

Well, fair and balanced is a myth, as we all operate within certain frameworks. (Presuppositions, if you want to use the really big words.) Besides, it's far more fun to get into opinions, then you can see how people think and how their systems of thought are constructed.
Incidently, the word verification things includes the word "tao", which Lewis used to describe natural law. He was off the mark on that one, but it's kind of related and thus worth bringing up.
I should add that the general thrust behind saying this is that it's really not that big of a deal, everybody has opinions and what they say if influenced by them whether they realize it or not. You can handle this just fine.
Oh, I'm handling it just fine. And if I don't feel like giving out many opinions, I act all diplomatic about it. You know, make it seem like I'm saying alot more than I actually am.
I just find it funny, not frustrating, that I'll be going into the journalism industry, but to do so, I have to give my opinions.
Hmm, thats all very complex. The question is of bias I should think. Everyone is biased, but the question is what bias you are biased by!
ahh, yes, well... ahem
