CBS loses CNN, creates pity site

File Under: CBS has a website
OK, so for years now, there have been rumors of CBS and CNN pairing up. CNN anchors and corrospondants have done peices on 60 Minutes, and other CBS programs. At times, it looked like it would happen. As it turns out, it *definately happening* is as definitive as MSNBC changing it's name.

Since apparently the CNN deal fell through, CBS said "we don't need cable!" and launched a big ole' website. One that is VERY bright. That's one reason I don't like CNN.com, is the brightness factor. It's just too much white. But I think I might be the minority in that opinion. Anyways, CBS now has blogs, has an invested interest in online articles, is heavily pushing online video, and has exclusive web features.

Wait, that sounds like FoxNews.com. And CNN.com. And MSNBC.com. And ABCNews.com. And NBCNews.com. Huh. CBS is calling it the "cable bypass", saying they're skipping the cable news channel and going straight for the web. That's.... cute. They'll be hard pressed to overtake CNN, MSNBC, or Yahoo! News as the online news leaders.
