TiVo Subscribers In Rage

Now let me just state that my lack of a TiVo prevents me from understanding and sympathizing with the owners of the popular digital recording device. I'm even chuckling somewhat. Hehe...

A recent software upgrade to DirecTV recievers has, for lack of a better term, disabled the DVR's. This problem mainly affects customers with a D10 reciever who have a stand-alone TiVo, and who use a serial cable to control the satellite box. (I have no clue what that all means.)

More techno-jargon... OK, apparently, because of the D10 recievers, the satellite box no longer recognizes the TiVo's commands. TiVo thinks it's changed channels, but it hasn't. It still records, but not on the requested channel.

One DirecTV subscriber and TiVo owner, Thomas Woellhaf, said "It worked for a long time just perfectly. Why fix something that is not broken? Now DirecTV is just causing more problems and making life miserable for TiVo owners."

Making life miserable... Later today, The Delta Institute will post links to charities and donation sites where you can help victims of this latest outrage. A community website forum will be set up to help those with new "miserable lives" to get through the day.

You want to know something even more funny? There's a conspiracy theory among many TiVo subscribers that DirecTV did this on purpose, to get them to try to switch to another DVR. Hehe. TiVo customers are a wee bit crazy, me thinks.
