Who won, who lost: the 58th Annual Emmy Awards
On Sunday, August 27, the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the famous Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Criticized for a very odd assortment of nominations, this year's awards were not widely anticipated at all outside of the production circles. Nevertheless, the TDIN staff is obsessed with most major award shows.
And as lampooned as this year's award show was for being too "outside" mainstream America, the voters made some pretty mainstream choices. I mean, voting The Office and 24 the best comedy and drama series out there currently? That's pretty in-touch with America. Shoot, everything except the miniseries and specials categories (which, who watches those shows anyways?), all famous, popular people won. People that "normal" people like. So next time you hear a talking head tell you that these award shows are completely out of touch with what Americans like, point them toward the 2006 Emmys. And try for forget about Lost, Desperate Housewives and the Gilmore Girls. Okay, fine, point taken. Anyways, here's the list of who won this year:
