US Census: Daily commute is somewhat shorter
According to the Census Bureau, the average daily commute to work has shrunk from 25.5 minutes in 2000 to 25.1 minutes last year. All in all, that's about 48 seconds a day that have been shaved off your travel time. Americans are also carpooling less: the number of people driving alone to work increased from 75.7% in 2000 to 77% last year, while the number of people carppoling to work dropped from 12.2% to 10.7%. Mass transit users stayed the same at 4.7%.
