Taking a Bite Out of Hoodwinked

Kate Beckinsale's vampire flick Underworld: Evolution opened at the top of the American box office this past weekend, leaving animated kid's movie Hoodwinked in a distant second place. Interestingly enough, two of the top ten movies on the list are considered more independant films; Brokeback Mountian and End of the Spear. The controversial Brokeback has made $42,131,000 in it's 7 week at the box office.

In contrast, Narnia, in it's 7 weeks playing, has grossed over $271 million. In terms of finanical impact - and not social - Brokeback has made less money so far than the 2005 remake of Bewitched, which took in $63,313,159 at the cinemas.
