Sharon receives Tracheotomy

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon underwent a successful tracheotomy on Sunday to help wean him off a respirator that has been helping him breath since his major hemorhaggic stroke. The operation was to insert a plastic tube into Sharon's windpipe, and that look less than an hour. Doctors followed that with a CT scan that showed no changes in brain activity. Sharon has been taken off sedatives but has not regained consciousness. (source)
