Re-Nabbed!

TDI almost included this case in Sunday's NewsWire... Charles Victor Thomas escaped custody this past Thursday. He had been taken to a room for a meeting for an attorney, though not his attorney of record. The attorney left, and Thomspon was alone. Somehow, he had removed his handcuffs, changed into civilian clothes, and using a falsified ID badge, walked out of the building. Ever since then, a massive nationwide manhunt has ensued. He escaped in Harris County, Texas.

On Sunday, just a few days later, he was captured in Shreveport, Louisiana. Acting on a tip relayed to them by the U.S. Marshals, Shreveport police approached Thompson while he was talking on a pay phone. He had a bicycle with him. "He was standing in front of a liquor store and appeared to be intoxicated," said one police official. When the cops asked for his name, he told them "You know who I am," then gave his full name.
The authorities wouldn't go into detail on the tip that lead to Thompson's arrest, or exactly how Thompson got to Louisiana. A $10,000 reward had been offered for information leading to his arrest. He is scheduled to be in a Shreveport court on Monday, and if he waives extradition, he will be returned to Texas immediately.

Thompson, 35, had been convicted in 1999 for the shooting deaths a year earlier of his ex-girlfriend, Dennise Hayslip and her new boyfriend, Darren Keith Cain. An appeals court threw out his death sentence, but on Oct. 28, another jury sentenced him to death.

I bet this whole event was just a publicity stunt for Fox's Prison Break.
