Here is another photo from the TDI Photography Division archives. This is not from THIS winter, but rather, from the 2004-2005 season. This picture in particular was taken on January 30, 2005. The Grand Rapids, MI region had a short period of thawing and rain, causing local flooding and high river levels. It then turned cold again, freezing flood waters. In the picture below, you see guardrails leading to a boardwalk path along the Grand River. (For the GR natives, this was taken near the fish ladder.) But as you can see, the frozen flood waters completely swallowed up the path. Though it made for a fun photo shoot, here's hoping we don't have to deal with an ice jam again!
