TDI's Emmy Predictions

File Under: The 57th Annual Emmy Awards
Feeling a sudden urge to make bold predictions, TDI will now venture as to who will win what award on Sunday night at the Emmy's. To make it a shorter post, I will only post my predictions for who will win. You can read the full list of nominees by clicking here. And I will update late Sunday/sometime Monday with the real winners, versus who I predicted to win. Sounds like fun, eh? Well, I certianly hope so!

(note: these are not necessarily who I think should win, but who I think will win)

While the media keeps hyping up the Desperate Housewives angle of the award show, don't look for many awards for the ABC ratings juggernaught, as the academy pays homage to the now-departed Everybody Loves Raymond. Their devotion to HBO will also ensure that lots of the awards are for programs that were on premium cable.

While there could be a few upsets, it'd have to be something REALLY big, like Arrested Development stealing all the categories. It deserves to win, but I'm just not convinced it'll get such a strong show of support again this year.

Ultimately, it'll be a pretty balanced, fairly bland year. The big upsets will be that Desperate Housewives and Arrested Development didn't get a big show of support.

Finally, the only person I'll ceed the supporting actor award to is Naveen Andrews. But ONLY him. Terry O'Quinn must win that award. Why? 'Cause that's the one award I've decided to go out on a limb for predictions, that's why! And because he totally deserves it. The fact that they submitted the first Lock-centric episode of Lost as part of O'Quinn's reel should seal the deal.

I have never seen The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. But I heard it was really, really good. So, um, that's what I picked in those categories. (in my defense, it's not like I saw ANYTHING in those categories!) This telefilm has been popular in the award circuits as well. So that's my reasoning behind that.

For those who, um, don't... watch TV on Sundays, the Emmy's will, uh, not be on THIS Sunday, September 18, at 8 pm ET on CBS.
