TomKat's in Danger!

File Under: Entertainment List
Here now a list of the top 5 entertainment news stories you probably didn't hear of today that might peak your interest.

5. New York City has apparently decided that actors cannot buy or carry police costumes, or risk arrest. "It has become increasingly clear that the city has revised its existing policy that allowed professional actors to purchase and carry police costumes to production jobs," a Screen Actors Guild spokesman said. The SAG hopes to meet with the NYPD to discuss why the sudden enforcement of rules means for future TV and movie projects, such as the 9/11 movies. Law and Order is not expected to be affected.

4. Joaquin Phoenix has slammed reports that he suffered a breakdown on the set of Walk the Line. Phoenix says that he DID bang his head on a bedpost during a scene related to Cash's brother's death. But he wasn't thinking of his deceased brother, River. "I don't need to pull from my experiance for a character, and I've never understood why actors would, except for lack of ability, imagination or research. I had all three things, so this is a little frustrating to me, because it denies my work and the research that I did." Walk the Line opens in November, and Phoenix will be nomiated for a Oscar two months later.

3. Disney is looking for a "thrilling pop/rock singer" in their 20's to headline "Tarzan", a musical adapted from their 1999 animated movie. They need the man to be "physical, agile, fearless and very comfortable with movement and tackling aerial work." They even specified that muscle-wise, he shouldn't be bulky, but more like a swimmer. Sooo... Be young, pretty, anorexic, and be able to sing, and you'll get on stage. Hey, there's nothing unique about this musical at all!

2. According to E! Online's Kristin (who I take not with a grain of salt, but with about 10 pounds), apparently found out who the "veteran female actress" joining lost will be, and it's NOT Carol Channing. Rather, it's soap veteran Cynthia Watros, who was last seen on television in the last 2 seasons of The Drew Carey Show. (some blog readers might reckognize her from a guest stint she did in A&E's Nero Wolfe).

1. Tom Cruise may have to split with fiancee Katie Holmes... There's another player interested in Tom Cruise's life, and this time, she's written a book about her lifetime devotion to the overpraised, mentally unstable actor. But in order for the two to hook up, they need to be peddling movies in the same general timeframe. Until then, the church of Scientology will probably force TomKat to stay together.
