Sadly...
File Under: Cable News
Sadly, Rita Cosby seems to be continuing being the post-Beltway Snipers Rita. Meaning, she's dumped hard news as a passion, and gone for the extremely sensational. Her new show debuts on MSNBC next week at 9 pm ET. Here's a list of some topics she'll be talking about (via MSNBC TV):MONDAY
Eleanor Cook and Ray Hultman, jurors in The People of the State of California vs. Michael Jackson, will talk about their experiences during the trial and their thoughts in the aftermath; Paul Barresi, a former adult film producer turned private eye, will discuss the possibility that Natalee Holloway was approached by a porn recruiter while in Aruba.
TUESDAY
Convicted Hollywood Madame Heidi Fleiss talks about her life and her plans to return to work.
WEDNESDAY
In a rare jailhouse interview, Rita sits down with Nathaniel Brazill, the Florida teen currently serving a 28-year sentence for the murder of his 7th grade teacher Barry Grunow. Brazill was a mere 13 years old when he shot and killed Grunow in his classroom at the Lake Worth Community Middle School near Palm Beach in 2000.
Heidi Fleiss was on with Rita ALOT when Rita was with FNC. Though I'll have to see a COMPLETE show rundown, to see what all she's covering in a night, I feel a little better about her departure, seeing as her first promoted topics are highly sensational.
Plus, I've heard that the numbers for The Big Story Weekend have gone up since she left. Julie Banderas, Jamie Colby, and Megyn Kendall have all been regular substitute hosts for the past couple months. Megyn Kendall hosts this upcoming weekend.
(in all fairness, TBSWeekend hasn't exactly gotten less sensational... And I don't know why it's under the Big Story banner, 'cause the weekday Big Story focuses on REAL news.)

She did REAL NEWS when she was at FNC? That's NEWS to me. FNC people and its 'fans' are just pissed she left FNC. She's being treated like a traitor by them BUT we all know that's how FNC works. They are fine and happy and treats them like gold when they've got them BUT let them move on boy FNC starts the name calling. Just goes to show ya FNC has NO CLASS AT ALL. AND neither do the people that watch it!
My, my, Mr/Ms/Mrs. Anonymous, such language!
Rita used to cover real news. But her last great scoop was getting the identities of the Beltway Snipers an hour or two before the police press conference.
Then, she became devoted to the sensational. She used to be a great anchor. I do wish her well at her new job, but I'm kinda dissapointed that she's STILL going down the tabloid route.
And that she left for MSNBC!!! Please. I know she wanted her own weekday show, but she's a smart cookie. Wouldn't she want, oh, I don't know, VIEWERS?
