FOX Affiliates Get an Upgrade

File Under: TV Industry
I'm not sure how this would affect local FOX WXMI, but the FOX NewsEdge news service will be making a new product avaliable to their affiliates for more regularly updated online video content. FOX NewsEdge is the affiliate arm of FOX News, and actually existed before there was a FOX News Channel.

Quoting a press release:
"Wegener(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: WGNR), a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, announced a substantial fourth quarter order from FOX NewsEdge for WEGNER's iPump Solution, including WEGENER's end-to-end digital content management system, MediaPlan(TM).

The system will allow FOX NewsEdge's 24-hour news operation and its affiliates to upgrade their network operations - combining elements of digital asset management with WEGENER's robust satellite network control system............................. Each broadcast affiliate (emphasis mine) will recieve a WEGENER iPump Media Server to recieve and serve digital assets to their news systems. FOX NewsEdge will upgrade their WEGENER COMPEL (TM) Network Control to coordinate and monitor digital asset distribution.
Delivery will begin in the fourth quarter, and will conclude by the end of the second quarter next year.
